Holocaust Slide Show and Information
The Holocaust was a terrible time for Jewish people. Hitler, the Nazi leader of Germany, had ordered for all Jews to be captured and taken to concentration camps. One concentration camp called Auschwitz was specifically horrible and inhumane. This camp is the main setting for the book "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas." The Jews bound to Auschwitz were loaded onto a train with no food, no windows, and almost no space. Many died on the train before they made it to the camp. The dead were just swept off the train. Those who did make it alive, did not live a good life at the camp. They were only fed stale bread (if they could find it). In Auschwitz, there were gas chambers that were meant to look like showers to the unsuspecting victim. A handful of random Jews would be lead to the "shower room" by soldiers. No one would see them ever again. Because of Hitler, the Holocaust became a genocide of an entire religious community. These horrible doings were unspeakably inhumane and cruel. Let these horrible doings remind us that genocide will not be tolerated in our modern world again.
